Moving- Packing Tips
📦 Packing tips: Recently, I have been assisting several clients that are on the move. Moving can be overwhelming for many different reasons. Here are a few ideas that I have found to be useful.
1. Set yourself up properly. And I'm not talking about boxes and bubble-wrap. For me, this includes a supportive, comfortable pair of clean indoor shoes, an iPod full of upbeat music and a portable speaker, packing tape dispenser (if you haven't used this tool it is a must!), brightly colored duct tape and sharpies.
2. Use a table, save your back. I take this table to a lot of clients homes. I spend far too much sorting and packing to do so hunched over. This table from Costco has adjustable legs so you can choose a height that works best for you.
3. This is where the brought colored duct tape comes in handy. I pick up used boxes for free or cheap off of Craigslist or Kijiji. That means someone else has already written all over them and it can be confusing. Choose a spot on the top and the side and be consistent with your labeling. (Make sure your tape doesn't peel off though- if it isn't sticky enough on it's own, put a strip of packing tape on top of it)
4. I use Numbers on my Mac to create an itemized packlist that corresponds to the boxes. Can't remember which box you packed your coffee mugs in and can't read your own scribble on the side of any of the 42 Kitchen boxes? No problem. Just cheek your list.
