Bathroom Renovation Week 1: Before
It's time to renovate this outdated bathroom! Thanks to @jeffreycourthd 's Fall Renovation Challenge, that's just what we are doing. I've done my best to make this outdated look work for the past few years that we have been in this house (a little paint goes a long way!). But it's definitely time to do a full renovation. So let me walk you through what we want to change about the existing space (on budget, of course).
We want the overall aesthetic to be in line with what we did in our kitchen. Simple, clean and functional with matte black, white, grey and wood with a pop of pattern, texture and color to add personality. We like to mix affordable items with a little splurge or two. For this bathroom, our something special is definitely our floor tile, by @jeffreycourthd I can't wait to show it to you! But for now, here's our overall plan to improve the function of this bathroom:
Vanity: We are replacing it with smaller, affordable Ikea Vanity and Sink Combo, but ordered something special for the drawer fronts. More on that in the upcoming weeks.
Lighting. This bathroom has inadequate lighting. One upon a time, there was no shower, it was just a powder room. And there was a wall where the shower is now. But when the shower was installed, no lighting was put in the shower. We also want to add some ceiling can lights and decorative pendant lights to the left of the mirror.
Shower surround. We are pulling out this prefab thing and upgrading with tiled walls and floor with a clear glass door.
I will be sharing weekly updates, so stay tuned for our progress photos next week!
